THE MOMENT THE ASK LANDS

You know this moment.

It happened this week.

Someone senior pings you: “Got a minute?”

And you drop everything and do it.

You don’t ask whether it’s yours, whether it’s now, or whether it’s ever.

In your own words:

“I don’t ask that. I just do it.”

Because you’re the stopgap.

You’re the solve. For everything.

Two more hours just landed on a calendar that was already full.

Your workday can’t absorb them, so you know exactly where they’ll come from:

Tonight. After bedtime. When you log back on.

YOU’VE LANDED HERE BECAUSE…

One of these happened this week:

You said yes before you had thought about it —

because it felt easier to do it yourself, a promotion may be at stake, and... you don’t want anyone to doubt your capability.

You’ve been carrying a conversation for weeks —

with your boss, direct report, or husband. You’ve rehearsed every word, said none of them out loud, and... it is costing you your peace.

You’re operating at a 15 out of 10 —

you feel it, but no one else knows it. You built that expectation yourself, and... you don’t know how to reset it without looking like you are stepping down.

All three begin at the same moment: the ask.

And all three change when you stop answering from the outside in.

Do the math on last week.

Count the asks you said yes to that weren’t actually yours.

The handed-off report. The meeting you attended just to be helpful. The thing you absorbed because it was easier to do it than explain it.

Most women in your seat count five or more.

Put two hours on each.

That’s 10+ hours your daytime calendar didn’t pay for.

Your evenings did.

Your Sunday did.

It’s why you and your husband mostly talk house operations: who’s cooking, who’s driving, who remembered the form.

It’s why your kids’ sports became another box to check.

It’s why prayer has become the SOS call: things go off the rails, then you pray.

It was supposed to be the other way around.

And when help does show up at home, it shows up at emergency level.

One of my clients finally asked her husband about it. His answer: “I think you value that I show up when things are in crisis mode.”

Daily support? That’s you.

You’ve been faithful to everybody.

Who is giving to you?

Everyone else’s demands are running your day. And nobody is going to stop asking. Why would they?

You always say yes.

You don’t have a time-management problem. You have an order-of-access problem.

You say yes because you’re a giver. Let’s keep that.

This isn’t weakness, and it isn’t a subservient streak.

  • You want to be helpful.
  • You want to be seen as a collaborator.
  • A parent should give to her children.
  • A leader should give to the work.

Giving is one of your best values.

It’s simply on overdrive: all giving, no receiving, and every ask gets the same automatic yes.

And here’s the twist you already suspect:

  • You might call yourself a control freak.
  • You care about quality.
  • You check behind people.
  • You’d rather lose sleep than miss a deliverable.

So let me ask what I ask my clients:

Is it really you controlling your schedule — or is your need to be liked controlling you?

You don’t want to disappoint anyone.

But you’ve been willing to disappoint yourself.

The answer is not to stop serving. It is to restore the right order.

Spirit first.

Self next.

Service last.

Not because service matters least — but because service becomes faithful and sustainable only when it flows from the center.

WHAT YOU GET

The Sacred Hours movement:

Spirit → Self → Service

This is the exact center-out process we’ll apply to the moment the ask lands — before urgency, guilt, fear, or approval answers for you.

1. SPIRIT — Let God have the first word

Before you engage, get quiet and ask for guidance.

Not an hour of incense burning on your knees.

A very quick prayer: Help me. Guide me. What is mine here?

God as your first move, not your last resort.

You’ll learn how to interrupt the reflexive yes long enough to discern rather than react — so peace, not panic, becomes the place you answer from.

2. SELF — Know what you need and say it

Self care is not bubble baths or checking out of responsibility.

It is stewardship.

It is noticing that you have needs, treating those needs as legitimate, and developing the assertiveness to communicate them clearly enough to get them met.

You’ll ask the three questions my clients rarely ask themselves:

Is it me? Is it now? Is it ever?

Then you’ll learn the words for what your answer requires:

  • THE NO — Decline work that isn’t yours without becoming a doormat or a steamroller.
  • THE RESET — Undo the 15-out-of-10 expectation you built. You are allowed to change your mind, renegotiate, and redefine.
  • THE ASK — Make the case for the role, support, help, priority, or recognition you need — out loud instead of hoping someone notices.

These work at home, too. The crisis-mode conversation has a script.

3. SERVICE — Give what is truly yours to give

This isn’t about becoming less generous. It’s about becoming more intentional.

You’ll choose the yes that is actually yours — then give it without the resentment, frantic overextension, or private cost that comes with an automatic yes.

Service stops being self-erasure. It becomes an aligned contribution.

4. THE REHEARSAL — Practice before the pressure is back

One of my clients carried a dreaded conversation for weeks.

Her direct report had gone to HR, the relationship was fractured, and the dread was costing her sleep.

She clarified what she needed, scripted her talking points, rehearsed them, walked in, and delivered them calmly.

It held. The relationship survived.

You’ll bring a real ask or overdue conversation and build yours the same way — because you should not be grinding alone with your spreadsheets, lists, and rehearsals in your head.

Your proof that it worked is simple:

The next ask lands. You move center-out:

Spirit. Self. Service.

One less automatic yes — and the hours it would have cost stay yours.

ABOUT JANINE

Hi! I am

Janine Graziano-Full.

I spent 14 years in corporate, including HR, where I helped hire executive coaches for senior leaders and watched who got promoted — and who got used.

I’ve spent the 15 years since as an executive life coach to Directors, VPs, SVPs and CEOs.

Companies pay me $2,500 a session to teach their leaders this material, and the women who need it most are often never in those rooms.

God is my co-pilot — and my clients’ — not our 911 call.

I left corporate so you don’t have to.

WHY IS THIS ONLY $15?

Because I want this in the hands of the women doing the work.

Companies pay me $2,500 a session for this training, and the women who need it most are often never in those rooms.

I’d rather have doers than downloads, and even $15 sorts them.

Full transparency: some of you will want to go deeper with me afterward, and there will be a way.

Either way, you leave with the process and the words.

FAQ

What exactly do I get?

The live Sacred Hours workshop, the Spirit → Self → Service decision process, the three questions — Is it me? Is it now? Is it ever? — word-for-word scripts for the no, the reset, and the ask, live rehearsal/coaching, and the replay. Yours to keep.

What if I can’t make it live?

The replay comes automatically. But come live if you can: I’ll coach the real asks and conversations you bring into the room.

Won’t saying no hurt my career?

A reactive no can hurt. A calm, clear, business-grounded boundary often reads as leadership. You’ll learn to protect priorities, name tradeoffs, and offer an aligned response — not simply shut people down.

Is Self just another word for self-care?

No. Self means knowing what you need and developing the assertiveness to communicate it. It may look like asking for support, challenging a timeline, delegating ownership, resetting an expectation, or declining work that is not yours. It is stewardship in action.

Is the faith part central or a garnish?

Central. Spirit comes first. But it is practical, not performative: a brief pause to ask, “Help me. Guide me. What is mine here?” If faith is not part of your life, this is not your workshop — and that’s okay.

What if the right answer is still yes?

Then you’ll give that yes wholeheartedly. Sacred Hours is not about saying no to everything. It is about making sure your yes is discerned, honest, and sustainable.

Will this work at home, too?

Yes. The same process works for household support, family expectations, overfunctioning, and the conversations that only seem to happen once everything reaches crisis level.
